Dr. Rolanda Harris is a licensed clinical social worker and bereavement minister at First Baptist Church of Warrington. She has twenty years of experience in end-of-life care and bereavement. Dr. Harris’ doctoral dissertation focused on African American pastors and bereavement social workers collaborating to increase grief support in the community. She remains passionate about providing comfort and valuable information to those who are grieving the death of a loved one.
The Ministry
It is the desire of this Ministry to comfort and assist people at the time of their grief, to make them aware of the support services of the Church that are available to them if needed. In so doing we provide spiritual comfort, consolation and encouragement in their time of need.
In addition, the Bereavement Ministry provides pre-bereavement counseling to any church member who may have a loved one diagnosed with a terminal illness. The Bereavement Minister educates families on Advance Directives such as Living Will, Health Care Surrogate, Do Not Resuscitate Order, and Durable Power of Attorney if needed.
The Bereavement Ministry offers a grief workshop, “Coping with the Holidays Following a Loss” to prepare members for the holiday season.
If anyone is interested in volunteering in the Bereavement Ministry, a volunteer training will be offered. For more information call Minister Rolanda Harris at 850-341-9252 or 850-456-8420.
