Our beloved Pastor of First Baptist Church of Warrington is the 5th son born to Mary and Silas Miller. James Henry Miller was born on January 21, 1943 in Baldwin County, Alabama. His former education was in Baldwin county. Pastor Miller joined the Foley Police Department and graduated from the Alabama Police Academy in February of 1973. He is the first black policeman to be promoted to Chief of the Foley Alabama Police Department.
He received a Certificate in Executive Level Education from the State of Alabama in December of 1995, a Certificate in Drug Abuse Education from Auburn University in November of 1972, a Certificate for Defensive Tactics from Southwest Alabama Law Enforcement in September of 1974, a Certificate for Police Administration from Agency Council of Alabama in March of 1996, a certificate from the University of Alabama for Executive Development in December of 1994, and a Certificate for Administrative Regulation and Criminal Justice Management from the University of Alabama in September of 1996.
Reverend Miller is affiliated with South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce Board of Director, Foley Boys and Girls Club, Optimist Club, Baldwin County Extension Advisory Board, Alabama Association of Chief of Police, and Chaplain for the Southwest Alabama Police Academy. He was given the Key to the City of Baltimore, Maryland on November 20, 1994, and to the City of Tuskegee, Alabama on April 21, 1996. He was also given a Governor's Citation from Maryland on November 20, 1994.
Reverend Miller was called into the Ministry in 1978. His first church to Pastor was Fannie Baptist Church in Alabama. He received his initial religious education from Selma University in Selma, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Theology from Easonian Baptist Seminary in Birmingham, Alabama in May of 1982 and received his Doctor of Divinity from the Tennessee School of Religion in 1996.
He was called to the First Baptist Church of Warrington in February of 1981, and led the Church through two major building projects. He led the church in the enlargement of the former Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall; and orchestrated the building of our present edifice. The membership has grown from approximately 200 members to more than 1200 members.
Pastor Miller is past Moderator of the First West Florida District Association. He has received many awards and appreciation certificates in religious, civic and work related activities. Pastor Miller is truly a man sent by God to deliver a message to this world about Jesus' love for us.
